Man accused of taking $40K in construction funds
A Duluth man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday on a felony warrant charging him with conversion of payments for real property improvements.
According to the warrant:
62-year-old Adolfo Diaz received over $40,000 for the construction of a residence on Covey Rise Drive in Rome in 2024, and then failed to use the money for the construction of the home.
He also used the victim’s credit card to purchase a Dewalt two-drill combo kit valued at $149, and took $6,000 worth of materials purchased by the victim.
Diaz also returned to the property after being given written notice not to, and dumped trash out of his trailer.
Diaz is also charged with theft by taking, the unauthorized use of a financial transaction card, illegal dumping, and criminal trespass.
Woman accused of using disabled person’s credit card
A Miami, Florida, woman has been transferred to Floyd County to face charges of financial transaction card fraud, identity fraud, and exploitation of a disabled adult.
According to the arrest warrants:
42-year-old Krystle Anne Henry used the identifying information from a Rome woman’s credit card without permission to obtain services from Georgia Power and Domino’s Pizza on August 5 and 6.
The victim has ALS and is disabled.
